When hope no longer feels holy, only heavy.
Maya Elison, a therapist weighed down by her own grief, finds herself unraveling behind the same walls she uses to help others heal. After the sudden death of her sister, Maya is forced to confront a pain she’s buried deep. When a teen client, Essie, arrives with wounds that reflect Maya’s own, she must choose whether to keep hiding or begin the work of healing herself.
The Ache of Hope is a moving novel about loss, identity, and the sacred work of choosing hope again and again. Through layered storytelling and tender prose, Dr. Foulks reminds us that sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is feel.
